About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Balloon House is an original painting inspired by Carl and Ellie's house from Up, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as a once-colorful home finally left behind to weather with time.

Some houses hold more than furniture.

They hold birthdays, arguments, quiet mornings, plans that worked out, plans that didn't work out, and ordinary afternoons we never realized we would someday give anything to experience again.

For Carl, this house became all of those things. It wasn't simply where he and Ellie lived. After she was gone, it became one of the last places where their life together still seemed to exist.

There's something deeply human about that...

When we lose someone, we often become protective of the things they touched. A chair becomes their chair. A sweater stops being clothing. A handwritten note becomes something sacred. Ordinary objects begin carrying extraordinary amounts of weight because they give our memories something to physically connect to.

Eventually, memories can become very heavy.

Carl spent so long trying to fulfill the adventure he and Ellie never got to take that he almost missed the life still happening around him. Maybe that's one of the hardest lessons to be learned from Up...

Moving forward isn't the same thing as leaving someone behind.

This painting reimagines the house after even that chapter has ended. The colors have faded. The boards have warped in the weather. Time has finally reached the little home that once carried an entire lifetime inside it. Even the balloons are gone... or maybe that part of this adventure was just a fantasy of Carls, and in real life the house remained where it was and slipped deep into the passage of time.

But none of that means the life lived there mattered any less.

The house can be left behind... The love doesn't have to be.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
