About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Pineapple House is an original illustration inspired by SpongeBob's pineapple house from SpongeBob SquarePaints, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as a forgotten home slowly rotting away at the bottom of the sea.

For so many of us, this little pineapple became of those fictional places that somehow feels so familiar.

A home where every morning seemed to begin with another adventure... Where an ordinary day could become something ridiculous, and friends lived only a few steps away...

Even the smallest moments could somehow become exciting and memoriable.

My illustration imagines what happens when all of that finally stops.

The windows are dark and boarded up... the pineapple has begun to decay... and the person whose optimism once made this strange little house feel so alive is nowhere to be found.

There is something especially sad about abandoning a place associated with so much innocence, humor, friendship, and joy.

Like much of my Abandoned Collection, this piece allows time to enter a world that nostalgia has kept frozen.

As children, we could visit places like this over and over again. The characters never seemed to grow older. Their homes were always waiting for them. Tomorrow always promised another adventure...

Meanwhile, we were the ones growing up.

Maybe that's part of what makes nostalgia so strange.

Sometimes we return to the worlds we loved as children and discover that they haven't changed at all... we have.

The Abandoned Pineapple House imagined the opposite.

What if we returned one day and discovered that time had reached this place too? What is everyone had finally grown up? What if the laughter stopped? What if the adventures actually ended?

And what would remain after the happiest person in the neighborhood was no longer there to make this place a home?

The Abandoned Pineapple House is an independent artistic interpretation inspired by the pineapple house from SpongeBob SquarePants and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Nickelodeon, SpongeBob SquarePants, or its respective rights holders. 

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
