About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Professor's House is an original painting inspired by the Powerpuff Girls' home from The Powerpuff Girls, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as a forgotten family home slowly deteriorating after its residents have gone.

This was once a safe place for a father and his three little girls.

Of course, those girls also happened to regularly leave their home to fight monsters, stop villians, save their city, and somehow make it back in time to continue being children... but they were still Professor Utonium's little girls.

I think thats what makes this house so interesting to me... because no matter how powerful they were outside of it, the girls still needed somewhere to come home to. A place where superheroes could become little girls again.

Here, Professor Utonium wasn't just the scientist who accidentally created three extraordinary beings... he was Dad.

This was where there were three bedrooms, meals, arguments, bedtime, ordinary conversations, and all of the small moments that make a family feel like a family.

Unfortunately, this painting lost track of time...

The city no longer needs saving... the girls have grown up and gone somewhere else... The windows are dark and boarded up now... all thats left to save here are the memories.

There's something comforting about remembering that even the strongest people need somewhere they don't have to be strong.

We spend so much of our lives becoming things for other people... parents... providers... protectors... leaders... workers... caretakers... The person everyone calls when something goes wrong...

But somewhere beneath all of those responsibilities is still a human being who needs somewhere safe enough to put everything down.

Maybe that's one of the things that makes a place a home... not the building we live in, but the place where we're allowed to stop performing whatever role the outside world requires from us today.

Like much of my Abandoned Collection, this painting has spilled time all over something that was never meant to grow up and fall apart.

But eventually every child grows up. Families change. Even superheroes move on... and perhaps the saddest thing about an abandoned childhood home isn't that nobody lives there anymore... It's knowing that there was once a time when everyone did.

When the lights were still on... Dad was still home... the kids were still kids... when everyone you loved still returned to the same place at the end of the day just to take off their capes and be normal even if just for the night.

Even superheroes need saved sometimes... and a home can be full of heroes in that sense.

The Abandoned Professor's House is an independent artistic interpretation inspired by the Powerpuff Girls and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Discovery, The Powerpuff Girls, or its respective rights holders.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
