About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Burger Wagon is an original painting inspired by the Patty Wagon from SpongeBob SquarePants, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as a strange little vehicle left behind alongside the scattered remains of a life that seems to have suddenly disappeared.

The wagon sits on a cinder block with one wheel missing. Graffiti covers its body. R.I.P. has been tagged across the side. Nearby, familiar objects have been abandoned on the ground... a fry cook's hat, a spatula, a jellyfishing net, even a little red tie.

But SpongeBob is nowhere to be found.

There's something eerie about seeing someone's belongings without the person who gave them meaning. AN ordinary object can become incredibly emotional the moment its owner is gone. A jacket hanging on a chair... A pair of old shoes left by the door... Tools sitting on a work bench... A handwritten note... Things that once seemed completely insignificant can suddenly become evidence that somebody was here.

That's what these objects feel like to me.

The spatula represents the work he loved. The jellyfishing net represent the things he did simply because they mad him happy. The tie and hat are pieces of the character we instantly recognize. Scattered across the ground, they almost feel like fragments of a person.

Maybe that's part of what makes abandonment so haunting. eventually, every life becomes a collection of things left behind. The object themselves were never what mattered. What mattered was the person who held them, used them, loved them, and gave them meaning.

Like much of my Abandoned Collection, this painting let the passage of time leak into a world that many of us would rather keep preserved in our imaginations forever as a safe, timeless place. I intentionally don't know what happened here... Maybe he left. Maybe he grew into something else. maybe the "RIP" means exactly what it appears to mean.

All we know is that someone was here. Whatever happened to him, he left evidence of a life that was unmistakably his...

Maybe that's all any of us really leave behind. Evidence that we were here. ❌

The Abandoned Burger Wagon is an independent artistic interpretation inspired by the Patty Wagon and world of SpongeBob SquarePants and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Nickelodeon, Paramount, SpongeBob SquarePants, or its respective rights holders.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
