About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Field Trip Bus is an original painting inspired by the bus from The Magic School Bus, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as a forgotten school bus left behind long after its final field trip.

For an entire generation of kids, this wasn't just a bus. It was a vehicle into curiosity.

One day it could carry a classroom into outer space... The next, beneath the ocean, through a storm, into the past, or even inside the human body.

There was seemingly nowhere it couldn't go... and maybe that was the real magic.

It taught us that the world was worth being curious about... that learning didn't always have to happen behind a desk... sometimes you have to take chances, make mistakes, get messy, and experience something for yourself before you could truly understand it.

My painting imagines what happens when the field trips finally stop.

The students are gone. The classrooms are empty. The doors have been closed for years... and the bus that once seemed capable of going anywhere has been left somewhere it will never leave again.

There is something especially strange about abandoning an object that represented endless possibility. 

As children, there was always another question... another discovery... another place we hadn't been yet...

Growing older can sometimes make the world feel so small. We stop asking so many questions... we become comfortable with what we already think we know... We learn the routes we're supposed to take and eventually forgot how exciting it once felt to have absolutely no idea where we were going. 

Like much of my Abandoned Collection, this painting allows time to reach into something that our childhood memories have kept preserved. 

But maybe this one is more of a reminder...

There are still things you don't understand. There are still places you've never been. There are still questions you've never thought to ask. The world didn't run out of things to discover... Maybe we just stopped taking field trips.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
