About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Family House is an original watercolor painting inspired by the Griffin family home from Family Guy, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as a deteriorating suburban house left behind after the family inside it disappeared. 

From outside, it was always a remarkably ordinary house.

A front door, a drive way, a living room, a kitchen table... The kind of place you could pass a thousand times without wondering much about the people inside.

But inside those walls was an entire universe of absurdity.

Maybe that's true of more houses than we realize.

We spend our lives passing homes filled with people we'll never know. Behind every window are inside jokes, arguments, embarrassing stories, celebrations, losses, routines, and memories that mean absolutely nothing to the rest of the world and almost everything to the people who lived them. 

This painting imagines this iconic house abandoned and lost in time... long after all of that noise has finally stopped. Nobody is sitting on the couch. Nobody is arguing at the kitchen table. The television isn't playing. The family is gone. The walls are covered in graffiti, the windows and doors are all broken in and boarded up, the yard is overgrown and the roof is caving in. 

There's something strange about an abandoned home because eventually the building becomes separated from all the memories that made it matter. A stranger sees broken windows and overgrown grass. Someone who lived there might see Christmas mornings, lat-night conversations, stupid argument, and a version of their family that no longer exists. 

Maybe there really is no such thing as an ordinary house... Just extraordinary amounts of life happening behind ordinary walls.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
