About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Half-and-Half House in an original illustration inspired by CatDog's house from CatDog, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as an empty home once shared by two completely different personalities who somehow had to learn how to live one life together.

Cat and Dog rarely wanted the same thing. Cat was cautious, particular, and desperate for some sense of order. Dog was impulsive, enthusiastic, and usually running toward whatever caught his attention. They frustrated each other constantly.

Unlike most people who can't get along, they couldn't simply walk away from each other.

There's something strangely human hidden inside that ridiculous premise. So much of loving another person is learning how to share a life with someone who isn't you. They don't think exactly like you... They don't want everything you want... They have habits that drive you insane... fears you don't understand... maybe even ways of experiencing the world that sometimes seem completely backwards.

Maybe thats part of what makes a home a home.

It isn't a place where everybody perfectly agrees... It's a place where different lives learn how to fit beside one another.

In this painting I've imagined this iconic house long after its glory days. The rooms are empty now. Nobody is pulling in the opposite direction anymore. Nobody is arguing about where to go or what to do next. For once, everything is completely still.

Maybe all that conflict was part of what made the place alive...

Like most pieces in my Abandoned Collection, this illustration let two completely different worlds collide and a location that felt preserved forever in a fantasy reality has been exposed to the reality of time and decay. When I look at this empty house, I'm reminded that the people who frustrate us are sometimes the same people whose absence would leave the greatest silence behind.

Maybe love isn't about finding someone who always moves in the same direction as you... Maybe it's more about learning to keep moving together even when our natures don't want us to.

The Abandoned Half-and-Half House is an independent artistic interpretation inspired by the house from CatDog and is not affiliated with Cartoon Network, Paramount, CatDog, or its respective rights holders.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
