Inspired by The Iron Giant, “Souls Don’t Die” explores the idea that although time takes everything physical from us, the things that truly matter somehow remain. The love we give. The courage we show. The lives we touch. The version of ourselves we choose to become.
At first glance, this painting appears to depict an abandoned home and a rusted giant left behind by time. But underneath the surface, this piece is really about what survives us. It’s about the invisible weight carried by memory, nostalgia, grief, growth, and human connection.
Painted over a thrifted landscape print originally painted by Michael Humphries (a Disney affiliated artist), this piece was carefully transformed by hand using acrylic paint and layered symbolism throughout the scene. Every mark, texture, and detail was intentionally recreated to feel aged, weathered, emotional, and alive.
This original painting comes fully framed and includes:
