About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Turtle Wagon is an original watercolor painting inspired by the Party Wagon from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as a battered vehicle left behind long after its final ride.

THe doors have been left open. Rust and vegetation have slowly taken over the body, while masks, weapons, pizza, and pieces of another life remain scattered across the ground. Even a broken canister of green mutagen has been abandoned in the dirt. Whatever happened to the brothers who once traveled together, nobody came back for their things.

The Ninja Turtles were outsiders in almost every possible way. They lived beneath a world they couldn't completely belong to, hiding what they were from people who might never understand them.

But they had each other.

Maybe that's one of the beautiful things about family. Sometimes belonging isn't about finally convincing the entire world to accept you. Sometimes it's finding a few people around whom you don't have to explain why you're different.

This painting imagines the Party Wagon long after that little family stopped pilling inside. The pizza is gone and cold. The weapons have rusted. The masks that once distinguished one brother from another are lying empty on the ground.

There's something especially sad about an abandoned vehicle that once carried everyone together. Eventually, even the closest people can find themselves traveling in different directions. Families change. Friends move away. Brothers grow older. The people who once seemed permanently woven into our everyday lives become people we would give almost anything to spend one ordinary afternoon with again.

Like much of my Abandoned Collection, this painting took something seemingly times and subjected it to decay. Maybe the things scattered around this vehicle aren't really evidence of what we lost... Maybe they're evidence that, for a while, nobody had to face the world alone.

Sometimes you don't need the whole world to understand you... You just need a few people willing to ride with you.

This is an independent artistic interpretation inspired by the Party Wagon and world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Nickelodeon, Paramount, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or its respective rights holders.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
