About the Artwork:
The Abandoned Vigilante Mobile is an original painting inspired by the Batmobile from the world of Batman, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as a once-feared crime-fighting machine left behind long after its final night on the streets.
Some vehicles are built to take us somewhere... This one was built for a mission. It existed to disappear into the darkness, chase danger, protect a city, and carry someone toward the very things most people would run away from. As long as there was another crime, another villain, or another person who needed saving, there was always somewhere for it to go.
My painting asks what happens when eventually there isn't...
The engine is silent now. The streets have moved on without it. The person who once sat behind the wheel isn't coming back, and a machine built around the idea of an endless mission has finally been left behind.
There's something strangely emotional about imagining the end of a mission that once seemed like it could never end. We spend enormous portions of our lives fighting things. We fight to survive. We fight to build careers, and create lives different from the ones we were given. Sometimes we become so accustomed to fighting that we forget to imagine who we might be if the fight ever ended.
I think thats why a character like Batman is so fascinating... beneath the armor, the technology, the mythology, and the symbol is a person whose entire purpose was born from something painful. He took tragedy and turned it into a mission. There is something powerful about that, but there is also something incredibly human about wondering whether someone who has spent their entire life fighting could ever finally allow themselves to stop.
As does a lot of the paintings in my Abandoned Collection, this piece exposes something meant to be preserved forever in our imagination to time. But this one isn't only about decay... Maybe the person behind the mask grew old. Or maybe, after spending a lifetime trying to save everyone else, he finally gave himself permission to live.
We tend to think of abandoned things as evidence that something failed, but sometimes walking away is evidence that something was completed.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
