About the Artwork:

The Abandoned Willow Treehouse is an original illustration inspired by Finn and Jake's treehouse from Adventure Time, reimagined through my Abandoned Collection as an empty home left behind long after its final adventure.

For so much of Adventure Time, Finn and Jake's treehouse feels permanent. No matter how strange the adventure becomes, they eventually return home. They eat, sleep, play games, make music, argue, laugh, and wake up the next day ready to do it all again.

But Adventure Time exists in a world constantly reminding us that nothing is actually permanent.

Civilizations rise and disappear. Kingdoms change. Relationships end. People grow older. Even the strange, colorful Land of Ooo was built over the remains of a world that existed long before Finn and Jake arrived.

This illustration imagines their treehouse becoming one more artifact in that cycle. The adventures have ended. Nobody is sleeping inside. Nobody is waiting to see what tomorrow brings. The tree remains, but the lives that once made it a home have moved on.

There's something difficult about accepting that everything we love is temporary. we spend so much of our lives trying to hold things still... our relationships, our families, our bodies, our homes, the people we love, even particular versions of ourselves.

But maybe something doesn't have to last forever to have mattered.

A friendship can end and still have changed your life. A home can become empty and still be full of memories. A beautiful moment doesn't become less beautiful because it didn't last forever.

Like much of my Abandoned Collection, this illustration allows time to reach a world our memories have kept preserved. Adventure Time reminds me that endings aren't necessarily the opposite of life... They're part of it.

Everything changes. Everything becomes something else.

Maybe the goal was never to make the adventure last forever... Maybe it was to be there while it was happening.

The Abandoned Willow Treehouse is an independent artistic interpretation inspired by Finn and Jake's treehouse from Adventure Time and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Discovery, Adventure Time, or its respective rights holder.

I created this series to reconnect with my inner child. It’s nice to take a second to remember the things I loved when I was younger... Nothing lasts forever, so appreciate things before they’re gone! I hope this collection will help you in a similar way.
